The top of luxury, this tented safari camp approached CRN Design to manufacture tents and furniture for one of their outposts in Botswana. Jodhpur has its own heritage of making tents so most of the fabrics required were sourced locally but things like zippers, mosquito netting and other requirements were imported from South Africa in order to have the best quality. Making the tents for this project was a huge undertaking and we worked closely with the client to ensure the best possible outcome.CRN designed the colonial furniture for the tents, four poster beds with canopies and folding tray stands as bedsides. We sourced antique pieces for the different spaces around the camp. The striped fabric for the insides of the tents was block printed by hand – making sure that the stripes lined up perfectly at the seams was quite a challenge. The large jute carpets were sourced from the south of India, and all custom made to size. Wood decking was built around each tent for easy mounting and to give a space outside each tent for comfortable living.
